You do not need to have every production detail figured out before contacting a supplier.

But the clearer your starting information is, the easier it will be for them to recommend the right product, decoration method, quantity and pricing.

What to know about the product

Prepare the basics:

• What item do you want to create?
• Is it apparel, a bag, cap, mug, bottle, accessory or something else?
• Who is it for?
• How will it be used?
• Is it intended for retail, gifting, an event, internal use or promotion?
• Does it need to be shipped individually?
• Is there a specific quality level or feel you are aiming for?

Think about the blank or product

You do not need to know the exact reference yet, but it helps to know what kind of result you want.

For apparel, think about:

• Fit
• Fabric composition
• Fabric weight
• Color
• Size range
• Oversized or regular fit
• Organic or recycled options if relevant

For non-apparel merch, think about:

• Material
• Size
• Color
• Capacity
• Finish
• Shape
• Durability
